Beyoncé Acquires Moët Hennessy to Take Full Control of Family-Honoring Whisky Brand SirDavis

August 11, 2026

Beyoncé has added another major milestone to her growing business empire. The global music icon has officially purchased Moët Hennessy's ownership stake in SirDavis, making her the sole owner of the premium American whisky brand. The move marks the end of a successful partnership and opens a new chapter for a company built on family history and personal purpose.

The announcement came earlier in August 2026 and quickly caught attention across the business and spirits industries. Although the financial details remain private, the message is clear. Beyoncé now has complete control over the future of SirDavis, from its long-term vision to its global growth strategy.

New Chapter for SirDavis Kicks Off

Beyoncé / IG / SirDavis first entered the market in 2024 through a joint venture between Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of luxury giant LVMH.

The partnership combined Beyoncé's creative vision with one of the world's biggest names in premium drinks. Together, they introduced a whisky brand that stood out for both its story and its quality.

Now that the partnership has ended. A spokesperson for SirDavis confirmed that the company is beginning a new independent chapter after nearly four years of building, developing, and launching the brand. SirDavis is now a woman-owned, family-owned, and Black-owned company, with Beyoncé leading every step of the way.

The change in ownership gives the 44-year-old Hollywood icon complete freedom to shape the company's future without outside influence. Every major decision, from product development to global expansion, will now reflect her own vision for the brand.

The Whisky Inspired by Family History

SirDavis carries deep personal meaning for Beyoncé. The brand honors her paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who worked as a farmer and moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. His story became the foundation for a whisky that celebrates family roots instead of celebrity status alone.

Beyoncé has often spoken about feeling a strong connection to whisky because of her family's history. Naming the brand after Davis Hogue turned that connection into something lasting. Rather than simply creating another luxury label, she built a company that keeps a family story alive through every bottle.

That personal touch has helped SirDavis stand apart in a crowded premium whisky market. Consumers are increasingly looking for brands with genuine stories instead of polished marketing campaigns. SirDavis delivers exactly that by blending heritage with modern craftsmanship.

The acquisition strengthens that message even further. Full ownership allows Beyoncé to protect the brand's original purpose while expanding it to new audiences around the world. The family legacy now remains entirely in family hands.

Built With Craftsmanship, Not Celebrity Hype

Beyoncé / IG / While Beyoncé's name draws attention, the whisky itself has earned praise on its own merits.

The “Single Ladies” singer worked closely with renowned master distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, whose career includes award-winning work with Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. Their partnership focused on creating a whisky that offered something genuinely different.

SirDavis features an unusual mash bill made from 51% rye and 49% malted barley. Unlike many American whiskies, it contains no corn. That choice creates a flavor profile inspired by both Scotch and Japanese whisky traditions while still delivering a distinctly American character.

The whisky is distilled by MGP Ingredients in Indiana, one of America's most respected whiskey producers. It is then finished, blended, and bottled in Texas, Beyoncé's home state, where SirDavis is headquartered in Houston. Every bottle is produced at 44% alcohol by volume, remains non-chill-filtered, and contains no added coloring.
